In a normal year, 6th-grade students would have started the school year with new Chromebooks. Because of supply chain delays, we were unable to secure the new Chromebooks until now. These new 6th grade Chromebooks have been delivered to LPS and are ready to be exchanged for your student’s current Chromebook. 6th-grade students at Moore will exchange the Chromebook they were originally issued for a new Chromebook (students will retain their current bag). This exchange will occur on Wednesday, November 4th for all in-person students. Directions for Remote Learners can be found later in this email.
To minimize the impact on instructional time, it is important your student bring their Chromebook (in any condition), the LPS-provided Chromebook bag, and the Chromebook charger to school on Wednesday, November 4th. Students that do not have their charger with them at school that morning will not be able to get their new Chromebook.
Remote students may exchange their Chromebook and charger during the hours of 8:00 am – 3:00 pm on Monday, Nov. 2nd in the Moore office. Please make sure to bring the Chromebook and charger in the bag. The ID card must be in the bag plastic pocket for identification purposes.

During these days of increased opportunities for remote learning, it’s important to recognize that not all screen time is the same. There is a significant difference between “active” screen time (engaging in focused production of content) and “passive” screen time (consuming entertainment media). The American Academy Of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends families have thoughtful conversations around the purposes for using digital media and offers an online tool for creating a “personalized family media use plan.” https://lps.org/go/y8ov.

Synergy ParentVUE is increasingly becoming your “one-stop shop” for information about your student’s teachers and classes. In addition to providing parents/guardians secure access to student grades (secondary), assignments, attendance, and class information, ParentVUE is also the avenue for parents/guardians to verify student enrollment in LPS. New this year, secondary parents can pay fees via ParentVUE.
